Ein aktuelles Beispiel liefert hierzu Amundi. Dieses Asset-Management brachte den ETF Green Tech Living Planet heraus. Der Blick wurde dabei auf stetiges Interesse an nachhaltigen Anlagekonzepten gerichtet. Der Fokus liegt auf Unternehmen, die in Europa mehr als 20 Prozent der Umsätze durch biologische, und somit erneuerbare und umweltfreundliche, Technologien erzielen.
Da dieses ETF-Produkt jedoch Aktivfonds gleicht, ist es bei Verbraucherschützern in die Kritik geraten. Sinnvoller wären in diesem Bereich eher passive Indexfonds. Ein Sprecher der Verbraucherzentrale Baden-Württemberg bezeichnete diesen Fonds als “Ökofond”. Der Erfindungsreichtum von Anbietern der börsengelagerten Indexfonds ist zwar sehr vielseitig und weitreichend, doch gleichzeitig kanner er auch, wie die Praxis zeigt, verhängnisvoll für die betroffenen Anleger sein.
Um dem zukünftig entgegenzuwirken wird teilweise gefordert, zu verhindern, dass Anreize bestehen, die genannten Marktlücken schließen zu wollen. Dieser Ansatz scheint jedoch kaum praktikabel.
